40 mesh count is good for specialty inks like glitters and shimmers. These heavier ink particles can fit through the larger gaps in the mesh. Lower mesh counts achieve thicker ink deposits. It is important to note that heavier ink deposits will create a thick layer of ink and not as soft of a hand.
